It's been a while since I've done any stage combat or historical fencing and it's a better activity then sitting on my couch eating microwave popcorn.

The Orange County Historical Fencing Meetup is a great casual group of (non-thatrical) fencers. They're very friendly and helpful. Their approach is to give the student a strong foundation in the basics rather then just gearing them up and tossing them onto the field. I would encourage anybody with an interest to check it out. Even if they have no prior experience. (Especially if they have no prior experience actually.)

"I think I expected some more formal drilling for footwork and moves, but I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Everybody was very friendly and helpful."
