- I've been studying French foil at Purchase College with Instructor Jared Kirby since the fall of 2007. I try to make it to the Academy whenever possible. I'm a New York City native but live at Purchase most of the year studying creative writing.
- Did you know fencing is a western martial art?

Yes, though I had no clue where one might learn it or what it entailed before enrolling in Jared's class just to fulfill my PE general education requirement.
- What interested you in fencing?

That swords are awesome. I stayed interested because of the beautiful subtlety, competition, deep history, and mental and physical workout the art involves.
- What's your favorite fencing movie?

I need to see some good ones!
- What weapons and styles do you practice - or would like to practice?

I only practice classical French foil at the moment, but I'd love to learn smallsword and saber! ... Or any other styles for that matter!
- Have you fenced before? Modern/Olympic or Classical/Historical?
