- Introduction
- I began studying at the Martinez Academy in July of 2007, after becoming interested in fencing as a martial art through the books of Patrick O'Brian and Alexandre Dumas.
- Did you know fencing is a western martial art?

I did not.
- What interested you in fencing?

I was always interested in it through literature, and was excited to discover that I could learn it as a martial art, which would enable me to defend myself and give me a chance to wear a completely awesome outfit.
- What's your favorite fencing movie?

Rob Roy; the final duel in particular.
- What weapons and styles do you practice - or would like to practice?

Currently, only French foil since I am still a novice. But I am looking forward to dueling sabre, epee, smallsword and combat sabre, not to mention rapier. Clearly, I have become an addict.
- Have you fenced before? Modern/Olympic or Classical/Historical?

My only experience with fencing has been with the Martinez Academy.
